Biodegradation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) by bacterial mixture

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are widespread pollutants and they can cause cancer, abnormality mutation. Nine natural PAHs-degrading bacteria were obtained from polluted areas. These the bacterial mixture degrade phenanthrene, anthracene, pyrene benzo[a]pyrene. The increase degradation rates of several PAHs compounds, such as phenanthrene benzo[a]pyrene, during repaired process, these compounds over 83%. efficient should be cooperation key enzymes, dioxygenase dehydrogenase, in mixture. main accumulated metabolite above four was dibutyl phthalate detected by gas chromatography mass spectrometry, indicating that process mainly represented phthalic acid pathway this work. And toxicity could decreased biodegradation. effects cultural factors, culture time, temperature, metal ions pH on efficiency also studied.
